About the author (2002)

family moved to Scarborough when she was four. During the war she served in the WRNS as a teleprinter operator, at the same time learning to type! She has worked in the editorial department of a provincial newspaper and has written a number of novels based in the north-east of England. She stilllives in Scarborough, where many of her novels are set.
