About the author (2003)

William Murdick is the author of two other writing textbooks, The Portable Business Writer (Houghton Mifflin, 1999), which was reviewed in Business Communication Quarterly, 63.2, June 2000, and more recently The Portable Technical Writer (Houghton Mifflin, 2000). He has a Ph.D. in rhetoric and has published scholarly articles on the teaching of writing and technical articles and a book on computer use. Dr. Murdick is a recently retired English professor with thirty years experience teaching composition. He has also worked as a professional technical writer.
