In the Gospel of Luke, Mary pondered in her heart events that changed not just her own life but the life of the entire world (2:51). Her reflections revolved around her daily experience as a woman: pregnancy, birthing, interactions with strangers, family, and husband. The ponderings in this volume concern much smaller events than those in Mary s life. As I walk in the woods or enjoy dinner with a friend, the ordinary occurrences that make up the common events of my life, I contemplate their significance. Whether musing on her mother s Christmas decorations or a Stravinsky concert, Johnson brings her unique theological insights to bear on the situation. Ideal for individual or group use, Johnson s meditations take us through the seasons of the Earth and the seasons of the church, inviting inward or outward response. Reflection questions are included."
