A complete catalogue of works by Turner in the National Gallery of Scotland
Over one hundred and forty years after his death, Turner's reputation as perhaps the greatest of all British painters remains as strong as ever. The popularity of the Turner watercolour exhibition shown at the National Gallery of Scotland every January remains equally undiminished, over ninety years after Henry Vaughan bequeathed thirty-eight of the artist's watercolours to Edinburgh. This new publication offers, for the first time, a catalogue of the whole of the permanent collection of Turner's works. Several drawings, which have not appeared in the recent literature on Turner, are included, in addition to the well known watercolours of the Vaughan Bequest and the vignette Illustrations to the Poetical Works of Thomas Campbell .
