About the author (1989)

Winifred Ragsdale, the retired Director of the George G. Stone Center for Children's Books at the Claremont Graduate School in Southern California, has also taught children's literature and writing for children in various California universities. She has been a children's coordinator and a consultant for public libraries, has taken an active part in professional organizations, and has received awards for her teaching.
