About the author (2009)

Mike Mathisen is a foster parent, adoptive parent, CASA and foster child advocate.  After 10 years of watching the important role a positive and proactive mommy plays in a child’s life, it was important to explain what is a ‘helping mommy’.  Mike is constantly pursuing the betterment of the foster care system, the child welfare process and how children interact with it.  He is actively campaigning and fundraising on issues that affect children in foster care.  His goal is Helping Kids Be Kids!
