This is the 23rd issue of the yearbook which provides a range of data on African countries generally for the years 1995 to 2003, or the last nine years for which data are available. This volume covers the fifteen countries of West Africa: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Căte d'Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo.
