Inspired by the impact of a martial arts legend
In the summer of '73, 16 year old Jaamal Mayweather, a black kid from Inglewood, Ca., falls for Lisa Wu, a 16 year old Chinese girl. Both kids are from rival martial arts schools run by their demanding fathers who are preparing them for the Long Beach International Tournament visited by Bruce Lee. Against the wishes of their fathers the kids continue to see each other. Lisa is being pursued by Johnny Chueng, a Triad gang leader who kills to be near her and puts young Jaamal in his sight. After a friend of Jaamal's is murdered and blamed on the Wu School, Jaamal and Lisa race against time to stop both schools in an all out brawl.
