About the author (2001)

Reyntjens is a professor of law and politics at the Institute of Development Policy and Management, the University of Antwerp. He is the chairman of the Center for the Study of the Great Lakes Region of Central Africa. he teaches law and politics in the Third World, with a particular emphasis on Sub-Saharan Africa. He has done extensive research on the contemporary history of the Great Lakes Region in Central Africa.
