Alexander van Slobbe: and-- and-- and--

Front Cover
Valiz, Jun 30, 2010 - Design - 304 pages
Alexander van Slobbe is one of the most versatile Dutch designers. He achieved international success with his labels Orson & Bodil (founded in 1989), SO (1993-2003) and orson + bodil (from 2003). His designs stand out through an innovative use of construction and materials.

After two decades of designing, now there is a book to which many people have contributed, who together add up to far more than the sum of the parts. Alexander van Slobbe, and... and... and... brings together a wide range of perspectives. The story of Van Slobbe himself as leitmotif, which touches on themes that are elaborated upon in essays and interviews, such as the relationship between fashion design and art, developments in the international fashion world and the quest for craftsmanship. Archive material is presented alongside new visuals, and old material is reinterpreted.

Designed by Mevis & Van Deursen in collaboration with Alexander van Slobbe, the book reveals the scope and precision of the work of Van Slobbe. Rather than focus on the cliche of the fashion world, and... and... and... explores the joys and discipline, rhythm and pace at which a collection is created.
