Given how many people have lived and died on this planet in the last 10,000 years, there must be billions of harrowing stories and experiences that we will never know of, but this is one that through sheer luck and disciplined documentation by the author has survived. This is truly a fascinating story and we are lucky to have someone who had the capacity to write it down. Not only does this give an unprecedented look at Sri Lanka during the Kandyan King's rule, but it describes a man's incredible experience 30 years in the making. Please do not let this story get lost to the ages, somebody make a movie out of this.
