About the author (2001)

Donald B. Kraybill received his Ph.D. from Temple University and is currently Provost of Messiah College in Grantham, PA. He holds numerous teaching and research awards and is the author of over a dozen books, including The Riddle of Amish Culture, an international best seller

Hostetter graduated from Messiah Academy and Junior College. He pursued advanced studies at a variety of institutions. During World War II, he served four years in Civilian Public Service in Virginia, Florida, Michigan, and Puerto Rico.
