EMMA SWEENEY is a garden designer and writer. She is also the author of Burpee Basics: Perennials and the co-author of The Complete Idiot's Guide to Gardening. She currently lives and gardens on a 130-year-old farm in Clinton, New York, and has a certificate in horticulture from the New York Botanical Garden.
