About the author (1994)

American-born Carl Robinson first came to Asia as a Peace Corps worker in Vietnam, before becoming a news correspondent during that country's seminal war with the USA. In 1977 he moved to Australia, where he worked as a foreign correspondent for Newsweek magazine. An extended trip to Mongolia opened his heart and mind to this fascinating country, and formed the inspiration and basis for the book Mongolia. He is based in Queensland, Australia.
