Australian Houses of the Forties and Fifties
Study of the domestic architecture of the 1940s and 1950s, from the austere post-war bungalow to the innovative designs of architects such as Robin Boyd. Following on from 'Houses of the Twenties and Thirties' by the same author, the book discusses house styles, colour schemes, furniture, furnishings and fittings, gardens and memorabilia. Includes chapter notes, a bibliography and an index. Substantially illustrated with photographs, reproduced drawings and floor plans. The author was the first curator of history at Sovereign Hill, Ballarat, and now works as a consultant in period restoration.
