The chances of you going pro may be smaller than the chances of you dunking, but there's no need to sulk on the sidelines just yet: Basketball for Weekend Warriors is here!
Players in touch with their inner Allen Iverson need a mentor like Randy Howe, a sports aficionado who knows the ins and outs of pickup games and adult rec leagues. Howe offers solid advice on improving skills and strategy, while keeping in mind that winning isn't everything. With photos, funny anecdotes, an ode to the playground legends, and side-splitting chapters like "From Dr. Naismith to ShaqFu," "Gluteus Maximus and Other Muscles Just Beggin' to Be Pulled," and "You've Got Game Now, But No Idea Where to Play It," you'll be inspired to lace up those old Chuck Taylors and take it to the hoop.

About the author (2005)

RANDY HOWE has more wins than any other pitcher at the Division III junior
varsity level, and his softball team won the Madison Beach and Rec “B” League
in 2003. His accomplishments in basketball and golf pale by comparison, but at
least he’s got his thirty handicap to fall back on. Howe is the author of five other
books, including Why I Hate the Republicans and Why I Hate the Democrats. He
lives in Madison, Connecticut.
