About the author (1999)

Kernan is a sportswriter. He is a graduate of Ramapo college and resides in Pequannock, New Jersey with his family.

Rob Rains has been writing about baseball and the St. Louis Cardinals for over twenty-five years. A former beat writer covering the Redbirds for the Louis-Globe Democrat, Rains also spent five years as the National League beat writer for USA Today Baseball Weekly. His 1998 biography of Mark McGwire made the New York Times bestseller list. In addition to writing, Rains has also worked as a radio host and an adjunct professor.
