Beverages for diabetics and dieters
Abstract: Beverages that can be part of a low calorie, well balanced, calculated diet, particularly that of a diabetic, are listed. Recipes are divided into five categories: fruit drinks, milk shakes and ice cream drinks, punches, milk based and yoghurt drinks, and miscellaneous drinks, A complete analysis of carbohydrate, protein, fat, and calorie content per serving is included with each recipe, as well as the fruit, vegetable, meat, whole milk, or fat exchange value. Fruit drinks include Cranberry Cooler, Peppy Watermelon, and "West Indies" Apricot. Milk, ice cream, and yoghurt drinks include Orange Shake, Velvety Prune, and Spiced Chocolate. Twenty-six punch recipes are included as well as recipes for coffees, eggnogs, and teas.
