This book shows scouting as it was, and a good sampling of the world of early 20th century.
among other items well shown, New York City, Customs and living conditions of both New England and the
South and THE Dismal Swamp itself. I have been to the swamp, back in the 60's and have talked with many older people, alive in the early part of the 1900's. Their descriptions confirmed much of what Eaton wrote.
For a look into the past, as well as an entertaining story, read this book!
