Building the foundation to a solid relationship can be compared to laying the foundation on a new home. The ground floor needs to be sturdy enough to accommodate the many rooms it will support. Building this foundation takes time and preparation to withstand both minor and major tremors. So it is with the relationship you build. No architect would think of constructing a home without a detailed blueprint to guide and manage the process, which is also true in dating. After reading "Building your Relationship Home," you will be better prepared to absorb any unexpected jolts or unplanned stormy weather, and gain a clear understanding of your relationship (home).

About the author (2012)

We prepare for most everything in life except dating! I have struggled in my quest for the ideal marriage and being the ideal companion. Could I have done a better job of compromising? Probably. Should I have been more observant during the dating period? Absolutely! Should I have just walked away from wrong relationships? Of course. But I feel my challenges over the years have led me to a place in life with something valuable to say. As the Chinese proverb states, "My barn having burned to the ground, I can now see the moon." I fear for the happiness of my grandchildren as they embark upon finding their lifelong partners. Dating is a complicated process with many decisions to make and things to learn. The whole experience can be overwhelming. What if there was a blueprint they could follow to help them observe, question and discover what they need to make better lifetime choices? "Building your Relationship Home" is meant to do just that! Born in San Mateo, California, I have been fortunate to live in Costa Rica, Amsterdam, London, Puerto Rico and many of the great United States. I have four wonderful children who have always made me proud and continue to bless me with grandchildren.
