Bullying is an issue whose time has come. If cruelty, abuse, and harassment become the norm for our children, the future of our society is bleak indeed. There is every reason to believe that the problem of bullying or child peer abuse can attract the concerned involvement of the majority of people. In fact, it is essential that this issue be addressed before millions more children suffer loss of power, self-esteem, relationship skills, and their very lives. When does teasing become bullying? Is their a typical profile of a bully? Of a victim? What role can school and family members play in preventing bullying behaviour? Bullies and Victims explores the pressures surrounding peer child abuse. It alerts adults and children to the difference between normal peer teasing and bullying situations; helps parents, teachers, and counsellors understand the dynamics and act effectively when children are bullying or being bullied; and gives practical steps to follow to help children prevent and solve the problem.
