Cake-Walk is a comedy about a cake baking contest in a small town on Canada Day. The six participants are Sister Vivien Leigh Cleary (entering the decadently delicious Chocolate Cheesecake), Ruby Abel (a cub scout leader entering her Northern Belle), Martha Britch (owner of Heaven on Earth Cafe and entering the Carrot Cake that made it famous), Augusta Connors Secord (the Mother-of-the-bride who is entering her daughter's wedding cake), Taylor Abbott (the only male in the competition, an archaeologist and creator of King Tut Coconut) and Tiffany Secord, the bride-to-be who does not want her mother to enter her wedding cake.

Montreal playwright and performer Colleen Curran is the author of many popular dramas for theatre and radio. Her first novel, Something Drastic, was a finalist for the first Prix Parizeau, and Nicola Cavendish s reading of it is a perennial favourite on CBC Radio s Between the Covers.
