Dr. A.S.W. Rosenbach was born in Phila. in 1876 & educated at the Univ. of PA. In his adult life he entered into a business with his older brother, Philip. This highly successful venture, The Rosenbach Co., dealt in fine & decorative arts (Philip¿s forte) & manuscripts & rare books (Dr. Rosenbach¿s specialty). During the brothers¿ later years they established The Philip H. & A.S. W. Rosenbach Foundation Museum as a permanent home for their personal collections. Consequently, this institution came into possession of one of the largest collections of Latin American manuscripts in the U.S. This volume discusses the provenance of these Peruvian & South American manuscripts & their content, & provides a concise description of each one. B&W illustrations.
