The International Christian AIDS Network (ICAN) seeks to promote a non-judgmental approach and, by also involving churches, acts as an advocate for those infected with and affected by HIV or AIDS (

ICAN produced this manual to support programs that care for the caregivers: people working in hospices caring for the dying, family members caring for their sick and dying relatives, home-based caregivers, grandparents caring for orphans and other vulnerable children, heads of child-headed households, and many others.

Ricus Dullaert, executive director of ICAN, is an HIV and AIDS consultant in St. Joseph's Care and Support Centre at Sizanani, South Africa.
