I am unable to review this book as I have not received my book to even start. But I wanted to post something when I stumbled upon this site totally by accident. I began installing Fiber Optic cable in joint trench apps in areas of Denver CO in the mid to mid-late 90's. I was shocked by all the miles of Fiber Optic we laid and terminated only to hear NOTHING about it until I heard AT&T was starting to fire some up with a new leg of their behemoth of a monopoly. I as is obvious was in on a exciting new application that was so far ahead of it's time I think in hindsight no one was really sure what to do with it. To me it was so simple and I became very disillusioned and left the business out of frustration. I was working for a very small privately held phone company that also had the franchise to a top name in the industry. I was so excited when I was brought in to work on and then brought back to do the final termination ( connection of the Fiber Optics) in the first school system to go FO Prouder County School' s north of Denver. So for those of you who are considering a new profession I highly recommend this book as well as many others as after my departure from this exciting always evolving field DO NOT LET the TECH JARGON intimidate you it is no different then everything else. Just jump in and stick with it as the applications are endless and I truly believe that we have only scratched the surface of all that is yet to be discovered. This is coming from someone who was doing this when groups of guys sat up all night and day at times HAND POLISHING each and every cut, yes that means both ends to near top grade diamond clarity. Not right do it again. Yes it was very monotonous but the excitement surpassed all those long nights. Enjoy the read and the world.
