About the author (1998)

Dr. Friedrich Spuhler was formerly Curator of Islamic Art in Berlin-Dahlem. In 1978 he became advisor to the Farah-Diba Foundation in Teheran and set up the first Persian Carpet Museum. In 1985 he opened a gallery of antique Persian and Turkish carpets, textiles and Islamic works of art. His Publications include "Islamic Carpets and Textiles in the Keir Collection," 1978; "Denmark's Coronation Carpets," 1987; and a catalogue of the "Oriental Star" collection, 1993.
