A swashbuckling adventure story that portrays a very different Prince Charming and provides an eerie echo of today's political climate and power's corrupting and corrosive influence.

This excellent little book is a real inspiration. It consists of twelve short tales, mostly written from the perspective of New Testament characters who encountered Jesus. The tales re-imagine and unpack the encounters with Jesus and explore the impact that this has had on the lives of those involved. Townsend presents a Jesus who is loving, non-judgemental and full of compassion and forgiveness; a refreshing clear picture unencumbered by traditional perceptions that have grown up in some circles. Clearly this work is derived from a journey of personal experience, some of which is explained in this book, but can be discovered more closely in Townsend's other works. This book shows the value of story and myth in inspiring us on our own journeys and can be both comforting and challenging at the same time. These are true parables, which wait to be played with and explored and not dogmatic pronouncements. I have no doubt that this book will appeal to all interested in Jesus, both Christians and those of other faiths and practises who are open to him.
In my personal opinion this book would make a great basis for meditation and to build a retreat programme around. I think it would also appeal to clergy and those involved in teaching the message of Jesus.
