While this story is based on a past future that looks all-to-real in many ways, the real star of the series of books is the Bell 506 C Gryffin Police helicopter. It carries more, faster, and is better armed than Blue Thunder, and in fact (look close!) is in the same airframe family as the Bell 222/230/Airwolf!
As it stands, NSA and DHS fill the roles the USTPF was/is projected to cover, just not as fun to read about.
I loved the series as a youngster, and enjoy the books when I can find them today. They may be a bit corney, but that always happens when writers write in the near future. Hey, Clark missed the boat about 2010 too!
