Workbook which provides an introduction to the Abridged Dewey Decimal Classification system which was published in its 12th edition in 1990. This is a scheme for arranging bibliographical items in small- to medium-sized libraries based on the universally applied Dewey Decimal Classification system. The explanations, illustrations, examples and exercises are suitable for information science students and teachers or public librarians. The final chapter presents the answers to the exercises and an appendix is included discussing adapting abridged Dewey to meet special needs, with particular reference to school libraries. First published in 1993 by Forest Press and reprinted with amendments and additions in December 1993. The author teaches library classification at Charles Sturt University, School of Information Studies.
