About the author (2011)

For over 35 years, David W. Smith has been involved in the tennis teaching industry. In addition to his competitive play that included playing #1 Singles for California State University, Fullerton, David was heavily influenced by his father, the late Bruce Smith, 1984 California Coach of the Year and one of the most successful coaches in the U.S. Garnering a team record of over 1000 regional wins against fewer than 25 losses over a 28 season career, David has learned quintessential methods through that success; how to attract players to a program and then effectively get the most out of those players. In addition, David has worked with over 100 top state, national or world-ranked players. As an author, David has written two of the industry's most successful tennis books, TENNIS MASTERY and COACHING MASTERY. He has produced two critically acclaimed DVD's "Building a World-Class Volley" and "The TennisOne Tune-up: The Serve." David has been the Senior Editor for TennisOne.com (one of the world's leading instructional tennis web sites) for eight years; he has been a lecturer and keynote speaker at various tennis workshops and conventions including being awarded "Speaker of the Year" in both the Southern California and the Intermountain USPTA Divisional conventions. Over the past twelve years, David has been one of only 25 Tennis Professionals in the world to be recognized by manufacturers, Wilson, Prince, and Dunlop as a Premier, Elite, and Master Professional, (respectively). In addition, David W. Smith is the Co-Author of the top-selling adult-level novel series about Walt Disney: HIDDEN MICKEY. With his co-author, Nancy Temple Rodrigue, the Hidden Mickey Series has become one of the best selling books about Walt Disney at the Disneyland Resort in California. His most recent novel, Hidden Mickey 5: Chasing New Frontiers, was released in the summer of 2011. He is often heard lecturing at writing conferences, workshops and book clubs. David is married to Dr. Kerri Smith and the Smith's have two children. He lives in St. George, Utah.
