Front Cover
Efstathiadis Group, 1995 - Fishes - 128 pages
Coastal Greek waters have been well utilised for centuries by professional fishermen. In the past few years, there has been a dramatic rise in the number of recreational fishermen and tourists which has resulted in an increased interest in marine life. The recent world-wide concern for environmental issues has also greatly contributed to the increased attention given to the marine environment of Greece. As a result there is a need for literature which provides information about marine ecosystems and organisms in Greek waters. This book provides a valuable and accurate resource for tourists, divers, sport fishermen and ichthyologists to identify some of the common species of fishes which may be encountered in Greek waters. In addition general information about the life history of each fish described is included. To aid in the identification of each fish, a colour photograph as well as a drawing of each fish with extended fins and defined makings is provided.
