I bought this slim textbook and its six accompanying audio CDs before I travelled to Tanzania. I uploaded all the CDs into itunes and listened to them while working out, while commuting, while cooking. I also made flashcards to help me memorize important vocabulary words. After six weeks, I could have a simple conversation in Swahili: "Good morning, how are you? I am a teacher. What do you do? How much does this apple cost?" The topics of conversation that provided the subject matter for each subsequent chapter were surprisingly useful and well chosen. If you master the lessons in this book, you will have progressed to the point where you need to adopt the street as your classroom. I have used Living Language for several other languages, and I like it better than Rosetta Stone. Highly recommended.
