Increasingly, factor analysis is gaining the attention of students of politics. With increased attention has come increased sophistication regarding the uses and understanding of philosophical and methodological phases of factor analysis research. Discussions of philosophical and methodological issues may well addressed to two issues: First, what is the character of concept formation and measurement involved in factor analytic research. Second, can the technique contribute to quantitative systems analysis of political phenomena. The paper offers some comments on these two issues. (Author).
