Once a rare disorder, autism has been on a sudden rise in the past decade, now afflicting one in 500 children -- more than Down's syndrome or childhood cancer -- without regard to racial, social or national barriers. Until now, experts have believed that autism could be managed but never fully treated or cured. In "Conquering Autism," Dr. Stephen B. Edelson shows that the disease can be successfully treated.

Dr. Edelson identifies the "autistic spectrum" -- which also includes learning disorders, hyperactivity and attention deficit disorder -- and presents a breakthrough treatment based on the premise that learning ability and emotional well-being are heavily influenced by environmental toxins. Grounded in both respected scientific literature and Dr. Edelson's own research and treatment of children who showed remarkable progress while in his care, "Conquering Autism" provides comprehensive information about environmental toxicity in children, as well as thoroughly-tested clinical solutions for protecting children from its damaging effects. Dr. Edelson's program also offers promise for treating the other behavioral illnesses considered part of the "autistic spectrum."

Compassionate, authoritative and essential, "Conquering Autism": Reclaiming Your Child Through Natural Therapies is intended to give parents and their children the tools and the hope they need to lead safer, healthier lives, and to thrive at home, at school, and, ultimately, in life.
