About the author (1989)

Geanakoplos, an internationally renowned scholar who has written twelve books, is the Bradford Durfee Professor Emeritus of Byzantine, Italian Renaissance, and Orthodox Church History at Yale University. He is a fellow of the Medieval Academy of America.
