About the author (2019)

In 2012, President Barack Obama announced his "Student Loan Reduction" legislation in a live presentation at the University of Michigan. The White House made one telephone call to conduct the interview with the President in Detroit. That phone call was made to Frankie Darcell. Her ability to ask the tough questions, thought provoking commentary, and depth of knowledge of subject matter has made her the foremost media personality in the city. From the President to music giants Aretha Franklin and KEM, to sports icons and legends, she's the girl to talk to. The audience expects to hear her candor, quick wit and sense of humor. She is the girlfriend you wish you had. Most recently, Frankie's radio career has led her to be heard seven days a week in several major cities around the country and daily in both Philadelphia (WDAS-FM 105.3) and Detroit (MIX 92.3) with iHeartmedia. Her talent and amazing creative skills have taken her love for the arts to the big stage. Since 2009, Frankie has produced and directed five stage plays and performed more than 60 shows. Most notably, Ntozake Shange's "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuff", the iconic "12 Angry Men" written by Reginald Rose, Eve Ensler's "Vagina Monologues" and the historic "God's Trombones" by James Weldon Johnson. An ardent supporter of issues concerning woman and children, Frankie has supported domestic violence shelters, breast cancer research efforts and children's initiatives. A prolific speaker, Frankie has received several local and national awards and been recognized by Mayors, Governors, Congressional members, non-profits and social organizations. A graduate of Morgan State University with a degree in Global Communications, she also holds membership in the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and is a legacy member of Jack and Jill of America, Inc.
