My place of birth caused me to be thrust into a battle that’s been consistently fought long before my conception took place. When I was coming up, crack cocaine’s influence touched everything and everyone in my proximity—for the time being. In the 70’s it was heroin, the 90’s bought coke—but for now—being associated with crack either made or played those with big dreams or dark nightmares. When times are hard it’s the hood’s #1 backup plan—from both ends of the spectrum—somebody wants to get high & somebody wants to make money—the eternal urban struggle.
