The work covers the bishopsfrom Conrad II, who was the last to work at empire level, to Gerhard von Schalksberge, whose long reign from 1365 to 1398 stabilized the diocese. In this period, the conventin Hildesheim was built and structured, andnumerous conflicts with the local powers took place, especially with the Guelphic Dukes of Braunschweig-Luneburg
