The hardcover version of Müller's Gegenwort-Wörterbuch has been enthusiastically received. He provides a precise listing of the antonyms to all the important words in German (including foreign words). This project may appear simple and even banal, but it is based on thorough research, and would have been impossible without the author's passion for his subject. It is fairly obvious that Kuh belongs to Stier, but also that Ochse also stands in contrast to Stier. What, however, is the status of pairs such as Cyber money / Bargeld, Matrixsatz / Konstituentensatz, Butch / Femme or even Kontrition / Attrition? The author lists all these contrasting pairs and gives a brief description of their meaning or membership of individual word-fields where necessary.
