Derby porcelain, 1748-1848: an illustrated guide

Front Cover
Antique Collectors' Club, 2002 - Antiques & Collectibles - 320 pages
Derby Porcelain 1748-1848, An Illustrated Guide, is almost certain to supersede the author's earlier Derby Porcelain as the standard reference book on the subject. It contains much new information and documentary evidence and a large quantity of hitherto unpublished illustrations drawn from a wide variety of sources.
For ease of reference the book has been divided into five main sections, each dealt with in alphabetical order: History; People associated with Derby; Production Materials and Techniques; Subject Matter and Patterns; and Usage (classification by type of product). There is also a section on marks and appendices on The Old Derby Pattern Books, price lists of groups and single figures, as well as a previously unpublished twenty page illustrated appendix on cup shapes.
This is a comprehensive study of the Nottingham Road Derby factory, its staff and its wares, with detailed biographies on anyone and everyone connected with production and sales during the factory's first hundred years.
