An excellently written book by the award wining author, Brian Caswell.
Deaucalion is a complex novel about humanity inhabiting another planet, historically named Deaucalion. The locals, who existed
on the planet before human migration, are called Eloki, furry and cute near-human intelligence life-forms capable of telepathy ad mind-speech. The Eloki was a deep interest of may researchers, and were studied by many. Eventually, ad quite secretly, the Eloki DNA sample was take, and the gene cluster for telepathy located. Under a secret operation poetically named 'Project Icarus'. Icaruses main goal was to create human life forms capable of Eloki telepathy. These 'Icarus' kids were born, but soon afterwards, their existence was known, and the termination of these genetically modified humans was undertaken. To save these Icarus kids, they were transported to the new nation, Deaucalion, and were secretly hidden from the public. The Eloki, too, were mistreated and were referred to as 'Bloody Rodents' and their telepathic powers feared. Deaucalion is the story of how Eloki and the Icarus kids struggle to be acknowledged, and how Deaucalion's biggest fraud president, responsible for various killing acts, is brought to justice.
A must read for audiences interested in futuristic happenings.
