The large-format video installations of Californian artist Diana Thater analyses the complexity of nature and its relationship with mankind. Her new work, Gorillagorillagorilla is a study of human and animal behaviour and the artist's further investigation of the medium of video as an image production tool. The pictorial section comprises both installation shots from the Kunsthaus Graz and a photographic essay by Diana Thater with pictorial material generated during the filming of Gorillagorillagorilla in Cameroon. About the author (2009)

Diana Thater was born in San Francisco in 1962 and holds an MFA from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. She has exhibited at several important biennials, including the Carnegie International, Whitney Biennial, Sydney Biennial, and others. Her solo exhibitions include venues such as the MAK Center for Art and Architecture, Los Angeles; the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis; the Renaissance Society; the David Zwirner gallery, New York, and others.
