The book is almost 90 years old so much of the information is out-of-date or incomplete, and the general tone is patronizing and more fat-shaming than modern readers will like, but there are at least hints of reasonable strategy.
--Don't drink you calories.
--Exercise
--Go easy on sauces and dressings that add calories to otherwise reasonable food choices.
--Eat lots of bulky, low-calorie foods (such as green vegetables)
--Calories in, calories out.
--Diets that eliminate whole food groups such as fats or carbohydrates are not healthy in the long run.
--Make room for occasional treats so you don't feel deprived.
Interestingly, her "ideal weights" seem pretty reasonable. Mine (female, 5'7") was listed as 148. She wasn't pushing women to be very thin.
There is also a little bit on gaining weight for people who need to do so.
