My short Story 'Do Dogs Think' was published in the 2003 fall issue of the literary periodical 'The New Orphic Review', hence the title for my book of short stories. It consists of a potpourri of stories, which are based in and around the fictitious small town of Crescent Valley situated on Vancouver Island: Do Dogs Think? Floyd thinks so, but his dog, Elmo, must wonder if people do. Down to the sea on B.C. Ferries A trip we've all made but not like this one. Across The River this is a powerful story in which, Cody, a university psychology student, finds summer employment in a northern sawmill camp. Across the river, a woman gone wild and violent from loss and isolation catches Cody's attention. He thinks he can tame her. Good luck, the sawmill crew says. Free Fall based on a true happening but fictionalized to protect the guilty. The Note it's that type of note married couples don't want to find but Ray does. Identical Twins twins or not: identical or not? Those are the questions. Jared's Opus a young boy composes his father's dream of love. Big Bang Theory two young married couples drinking and playing cards; a common practise but it could explode like the Big Bang. Wait and See young lovers split up; how can they reconcile without losing face? These stories are filled with humour, mystery, love, sex, suspense and trauma in situations that reveal our humanness.
