I read this book (more than once) when I was about 10 or 11 years old and lived in Missouri. It was part of our church's library.
Now I have children of my own and I often try to think of books
that might interest them. I remembered this book but could not remember the title correctly. After much searching I've found it!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book as a child and would love to read it again. The book is filled with the details of daily life as seen by young Dorothy. Play, work, joy, sadness, life and death are all revealed through her mind's eye.
I'm even more interested in her life now that we live in East Texas near the Sabine River. I'd like to figure out exactly where they lived and see if I could locate it.
