Dr. Atkins' Vita-nutrient Solution: Nature's Answers to Drugs

Front Cover
Simon and Schuster, 1998 - Health & Fitness - 407 pages
"This book presents the scientific basis for the function of nutrients as the body's first line of defense against disease, firmly launching nutritional therapy into the mainstream of medical legitimacy." "With his trademark gift for making complex ideas accessible, Dr. Atkins shows how vita-nutrients, which include vitamins, minerals, amino acids, herbs, and hormones, are the treatment of choice for most of the chronic illnesses that plague us today. In some cases, he asserts, they can even supersede the drugs and invasive procedures that are so commonly and casually prescribed. In this book, Dr. Atkins presents a comprehensive guide to more than a hundred supplements that, because they address the true causes of disease instead of temporarily alleviating symptoms, promote longer-lasting, more effective healing. You'll learn the specific restorative powers of each nutrient; how to determine the optimal dosage schedule; how to obtain nutrients that are new to the market or in limited supply; and how to determine which supplements are of the best quality and which manufacturers are reputable." "Dr. Atkins encourages you to use this vital information by creating a personalized program to help you regain or improve your health."--BOOK JACKET.Title Summary field provided by Blackwell North America, Inc. This book is my go-to health book, truly a life saver. In 2008, I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a type of blood cancer that effects the blood plasma and bone marrow and is considered incurable. After turning to Dr. Atkins book on how to fight back, I followed his directions as best as possible (rather vigorously actually) and along with conventional medical treatment, including two stem cell transplants and a community of prayer support, there remains no evidence of the cancer. I went into remission four months after diagnosis, having "bolstered"my immune system with Dr. Atkins' protocol. Its amazing that the researched advice he provides is now being supported by other "health" experts. I wish I could thank him face-to-face. Recommended reading? More than that...it should be YOUR medical go-to book for so many issues we face today that are NOT solved by the pharmaceutical empire.

Robert C. Atkins, M.D., was the founder and Executive Medical Director of The Atkins Center for Complementary Medicine in New York City. His groundbreaking weight loss book, Diet Revolution, was the first major work to prescribe a low-carbohydrate diet. The revised and updated Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution spent more than six years on the New York Times bestseller list.

Robert C. Atkins was a world renowned doctor who has helped people lose weight through his own formula of eating certain types of food and exercising. He was the director of the Atkins Center for Complementary Medicine and hosted "Health Revelations" on the syndicated radio show " Design for Living." Atkins wrote approximately 40 books, each one describing a form or revelation of the diet he created, such as "Dr. Atkin's New Diet Revolution," his first book and followed by others such as "Dr. Atkins' Superenergy Diet" or Dr. Atkins' Age-Defying Diet." Atkins also had a nationally circulated newsletter and an infomercial. Robert C. Atkins died on April 17, 2003 from head injuries sustained during an accidental fall while on his way to work.
