Richard Bentley (1662-1742) was the Turbulent, despotic, brilliant and most legendary Master of Trinity College, Cambridge. He was a great classical scholar, and a pioneer of the natural sciences at Cambridge, championing the principles of his friend Sir Isaac Newton.
