About the author (2005)

KATHY SHADLE JAMES is a renowned expert on adolescent and adult obesity. She is a professor, nurse practitioner, researcher, speaker, and writer and received her doctorate in nursing from the University of San Diego, where she is now a professor.


Dr. James has had a private practice with overweight children and adults for over twenty years. She is also an accomplished author, speaker, and frequent guest expert on television and radio on obesity and nutrition.


Dr. James doesn’t just write or talk about obesity; she experienced it firsthand, losing sixty pounds twenty years ago. She’s kept the weight off using the practical and informative tips she shares in this book.


Dr. James lives in Del Mar, California, with her husband.
