Edgar Vective, a normal and normally apathetic auto-salvage mechanic, was living out his humdrum life in the rusted and dusted out town of Gloom and Doom, New Mexico. One day, near the very beginning of the book, Edgar accidentally electrocuted himself just a smidge over the edge of the grave. In doing so, he picked up a unique and predictable skill... He could see ghosts! Edgar, who so eloquently put it that, ├ó┬┬nothing ever happens anywhere,├ó┬┬ spends the next several days chasing a pack of zombies who stole his car across the country with his new and annoying friend the Ghost of Sherlock Holmes. Along the way he finds love (or something like it), a zombie cowboy relic from the past who has learned as much in death as he had in life, and that having so much in common with Death himself is not as great as it sounds.
