About the author (2011)

Ann Pierce Smith is in her fifteenth year as Library Media Specialist at Farley Elementary School in McCracken County, Kentucky. She selects and manages the collection of materials that are used by staff and students, and has learned over the years what books appeal to and benefit children from Kindergarten throgh 5th grade. Reading and writing are life-long hobbies of Ann's, and she hopes to instill in young people the love of written and oral language as well as the use of it for self-expression. The author, a resident of McCracken County, Kentucky, is the mother of three children and four grandchildren, and shares her home with her German Shepherd, Belle.
